I am so excited to share with you that I have found a new and fun way to search for topics and news that you want to learn about on the internet. It is through Time For Kids, a magazine we already use in class. We are going to use Time For Kids as a search engine in our class.
All you have to do is go to http://www.timeforkids.com/. When you get to the Time For Kids website, you will see the homepage with the latest new stories. These stories are written to children as an audience, so these stories are written for you to be the readers. Other than clicking on the news stories on the homepage, you can also use the task bar at the top to learn information. You can look through news stories, stories from kid reporters, articles from around the world, resources for homework help, photos and videos, etc...
To search for a topic that you are interested in, you can use the search bar in the top right corner, underneath the task bar. You can type in a topic that interests you, and you will receive a sitewide search that will give you all the resources on the topic that you typed in from their website. For example; I typed in puppies and several stories that included puppies showed up in my search.
By using this website as a search engine, we know that all of our information is accurate, safe and appropriate. We also know that it is written to a kid-friendly audience. To find out more about this site and app, I have included a video below with further information. Happy Searching :)
