W506 taught me a lot about different tech tools, sites, and resources to use in my classroom. I have already used some of the resources in my classroom. I have used Tube Chop already, to show only the parts of videos from YouTube that I want to show. I used this resource to chop the "I Have A Dream Speech." This was very helpful for me to show the parts that I thought would catch the attention of my first graders, without making them sit through the whole thing. I have also already shared my shape video assessment with my students, as well as another video assessment that I made through HapYak.
My favorite thing that I learned from this class is video-conferencing, I really plan to use this in my classroom. I have a diverse group of learners, so it is a goal of mine to have a classroom that celebrates cultural diversity. I feel my students would really benefit from collaborating and learning with their peers from other parts of the world.
Throughout this class, I have learned about so many other technology resources that are out there that would greatly benefit my students. I have learned new ways to collaborate with my students and parents through social networking, as well as through blogging. I have learned new ways to engage my students with tech tools rather than traditional paper and pencil lessons, that often bore them. I have become a Google Docs user in and out of my classroom, when I wasn't even aware that it existed prior to taking this class.
I feel my W506 course has transformed my teaching. I feel much more aware of tech tools and resources for students, and I feel much more comfortable in using them. I know in this technology age, my students love using technology, it makes more sense to use it as a delivery system of instruction.
